WHO SAYS WHAT A TUBE IS ?

Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc)

Fall 2018

Instructed by Eric Owen Moss

In collaboration with William Maya

The design concept originated with the premise of making simple operations over the site with two elements: tubes and towers. The pieces interact with each other, the site and the context to generate a formal language that would be able to contain 1,100,000 square feet of office space and 50,000 square feet of commercial space. The tubes act as main circulation, creating a looped walkway through the entire building and serving the main office bays and retail stores. The towers are inserted into the tubes to break the continuity and to accommodate private conference rooms vertically.
